A LITTLE SSI HISTORY Since 1981 SSI has been providing both volunteer and paid emergency services personnel with their gear, specialty tools, and equipment needs. For over 15 years we have been located in the same retail store in Denver, Colorado, with sales associates located throughout our home state and several other states from east to west coast.
Before we go forward, Let us look back at some SSI history. . . .
The President / CEO of SSI Emergency Equipment is Robert (Bob) Eldredge. Bob comes with a full fire background. Starting as a junior fire fighter at the age of 13 in Cherry Hills New Jersey, at 18 years of age he became a volunteer firefighter in Albany, Oregon. In 1968 he joined the Glendale Colorado Fire Dept, and later, Cunningham Fire Prot. Dist. located in the Southern Metro Area. During this time Bob held ranks of Fire Marshall, Asst. Chief, and Acting Chief. Bob picked up 2 Assoc. Degrees in Fire Science along the way. In July of 81, SSI was born in the lower level of the family townhouse in Southeast Denver. In 1985 SSI opened it’s present retail store location at 2826 Zuni St. Through the normal ups — downs of starting a new business, Bob stayed with his plan of developing a fire equipment supply company which would provide rapid service, fair prices, and quality products. Today, we service Law Enforcement, EMS, Rescue, and Medical personnel in addition to our fire and forestry customers. Our reps are available from coast to coast to assist those who protect and serve the public.
Our Corporate Treasurer, Kathleen M Eldredge, wore police blues starting in 1970. In January of 1999, Kathy published
the first pages of our web site. At our Corporate Office in Aurora, Colorado, Kathy and SSI National Sales Manager, Sandy
Stelter, handle Internet inquiries and sales, service our out of state sales associates and customers, and continue
adding new pages to our web site. Sandy comes well equipped to assist SSI sales reps. He has 13 years of fire service with an urban interface, volunteer fire department. He started selling fire fighting products in 1978 and joined forces with Bob and Kathy in 1983. Sandy has been breathing smoke or selling to fire and police personnel ever since. We are available by email, fax, or toll free phone to provide you with information, quotes, and to process your orders.
